  • Achievement Test
  • Most commonly used evaluation tool in normal class room.
  • Achievement test is test which used to assess the level of achievement of each student in each of the learning points.
  • Since same teaching point might have been learnt by different students at different level, the teacher assess the achievement using achievement test.

  • Anecdotal Record
  • Anecdotal record is reports of informal teacher observation regarding his pupil.
  • The observation should be recorded soon after the incident is observed.
  • The recorded observation should be accurately and objectively.
  • Anecdotal records can not be considered a tool complete by itself.
  • The data supplied by the anecdotal record can supplement data collected using other tool and technique, provided the evaluator interprets the anecdotes objectively.

  • Cumulative Record
  • The progress in the developmental pattern of each student is recorded cumulatively from period to period in a comprehensive record – such a record is known as cumulative record.
  • The individuals has to be evaluated with regard to the all round development involving various aspects like Physical, intellectual, moral, social etc.
  • Cumulative record records….
    o Physical development
    o Health conditions
    o Level of achievement in various subjects of study
    o Participation in co-curricular activities like NCC, NSS etc.
  • Cumulative records give a very comprehensive picture of the past and present career of a student and have will help in making prediction about the future.

  • Check-list
  • Check-list is a simple device consisting of a prepared list of items.
  • It is easy to make and to use.
  • In check-list simply records the presence of a particular variable.
  • The result recorded by putting lick mark against the item.

  • Rating scale
  • This a more sophisticated check-list.
  • In rating scale we can record how much a particular variable found.
  • There are many types of rating scale
    o 3 point rating scales.
    n Good, Average, Poor
    o 5 point rating scales.
    n Excellent, very good, good, average, poor
  • Normally the number of points fixed is an odd number.

  • Questionnaire
    “systematic compilation of questions that are submitted to a sampling of population about which information is desired”

  • It is flexible tool for gathering quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Possible to cover various aspects of a board problem or several problems.
  • Ensures uniformity in the approach to the problem and collecting of responses.
  • Inadequate coverage, misinterpretation of questions and inadequate understanding of respondents are the major hurdles of questionnaire.
